“Soak”, developed by Korean software agency Everyware, is an
interactive artwork and a Microsoft Kinect hack that appears to be
a blank canvas. However, when users touch the surface, stretching
the elasticized fabric, colors start to bleed from the point of touch,
resembling dye dispersing through material.

“Intimacy”- a project developed by "dune" Studio Roosegaard-incorporates
leather and smart e-foils to create dresses that respond
to social proximity and become near transparent when activated by
the heartbeat of the wearer. As a wearer gets close to another person
(i.e. through hugging or dancing), the e-foils activate to alter the
level of transparency, creating a sensual play of disclosure.

Numerous smart textiles for apparel are emerging. Touch Sensitive
by MIT is an intriguing new haptic fashion fabric that provides therapeutic
benefits for people on the move. Heat sensors, diffused
liquids and mechanically driven textural sensations (haptics) create
a sensory cocoon. At this stage, touch-reactive materials are most
likely to be used in the health and cosmetics industries to release
beneficial treatments.

Technology is beginning to engage human senses in
unconventional yet appealing ways. In place of abrasive
beeps and vibrations, ambient scent and taste technology
sensors are emerging.

Thanks for everyone's donations from our Fall 2011 fashion show at 61 Local!!! We are happy to say that we raised 186 dollars because of everyone's generosity! To think a couple dollars here and a couple dollars there can combine to help out an organization in need. Since Planned Parenthood's federal funding has been taken away, donations have been up 500 percent. 100 percent of donations from our show went directly to the cause. I know 186 does not seem like a big number, but every bit helps!

Braid rage!

We have a good friend going to hair school right now and I was so pleased to have here teach me how to fishtail braid the other night over martinis. I was shocked to find that in the morning I remembered and could acually re-create it the look. I'm now completely enthralled, and is one of the reasons I plan on keeping long locks for a while. This is such a great look for the season and is so simple and pretty and messy and fab. Oh and also you can pretty much do a million zillion variations just like a regular braid, so it just won't quit!

We are having a fashion show April 16th. Please join us for the much anticipated presentation of our Fall 2011 collection. The show starts at 10 pm, but please get there early to make sure you have a spot. We are creating a runway at 61 Local in Cobble Hill. What You Dont have an EAR CUFF?

I picked up an ear cuff this Friday and since then I have been obsessed.

I had done a road trip last year along the west coast and while in San Francisco I happened upon a conversation of feather dangling ear cuffs. I had not done any research since then and here I am with my very own ear cuff!! Now a point of advice when purchasing simple is more, unless there is a feather involved, but that is as far as it gets. The dragon, spider web, gargoyle, ect. cuffs that consume your entire ear are a bit much for me. All I have to say is that was so 7th grade!!!

Loving the 90's lavish feel of this collection, I was blown away to find that this was done by the Full House sisters. Dare I say their names..... I love the fur mixing and of course the penny loafers. These 2 are known for their styling and this is nothing short of a bit of styling with some thought out shapes. We drank, can't remember the sponsor, but shit we drank. We saw, we saw lots of Mad Max influenced/like minded people. We talked, we talked about the amazing clothes that lay before us. I have to say it was difficult to have a good time and not obsess with the idea that someone is going to spill those delicious drinks all over our product. But non- the- less was a good time. I especially could not help to be an uber nerd and watch peoples reactions to the racks like a total creep. That's right we are creeps. On that note see all these amazing hipsters drinking and what not........

Hey there,

We spent last weekend hole punching our way through about 1200 pages putting together our fall 2010 look books... They are now happily being transported all over the country! I have been left only with the glorious confetti all over my apartment! There is something I've always loved about those little punch-outs. They are like dunkin donut's munchkins- but REAL. Magical.

Day at Brimfield Flea Market

I must say for people who enjoy garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores, this is the place to be!! I love a "good find" and there were many to be had. I took a car from Connecticut with my other 2 nomad friends. Had we known it was going to storm the night before and had we known our cute bed and breakfast was border line Motel 6 we would have chosen a different place to stay. The unsaid bathroom incident did not help the situation.

We thought it would be a great idea to wake up at 5:30 a.m. to get there before the morning rush. Again, had we known when we got there that people were still setting up we would have left a little later. But once we got there it was allover, each one of us started roaming from tent to tent as if we were all under a crazy spell. Tent, after tent, after tent. There was so much to feast our eyes on,

dolls,vintage clothing,antique wedding pictures from the early 1900's,nautical equipment,hats,furniture,tools

We never thought the roaming could ever last 10 hours and we didn't even see everything. By the end lets just say I had a limp and our feet were covered in dirt. It was so hot that my ice cream float lasted 2 seconds. At the end I would say it was a very successful trip.

We are taking a short break from the rain and the cold weather to head west for inspiration for our Spring 11 collection. Since Spring 11 is right around the corner we better drive like a bat out of hell. Windows down, with our fabulous scarf up do's, nothing could compare except maybe finding Brad Pitt on the side of the road.

We have exciting website updates when we get back in about 3 weeks. We will be previewing our Fall 10 much anticipated photo shoot. Let's just say I couldn't wait to get home and shower after being at our motel location. The grimiest of grime has never been so fashionable. This awesome furniture store reminds me of my room in high school, a grave yard for awesome treasures. This store sells used furniture that is all hand selected which includes, old school baby carrages, skeleton end tables, and vintage clothing. There are also a slew of handmade items from selected designers. That is where we come in. We are selling our coontails and suspenders. We are in the process of making more of the ecru(beige) color suspenders which are blowing out!!! This little cave in Williamsburg is definately a hidden gem.

Williamsburg Fashion Weekend Was a Blurry Hit

For those of you who missed the show, we are posting for your viewing pleasure. See if you can pick out which models were really drunk!!!! Alex McQueen is DEAD

I know this is a little belated, but one of the greatest men in fashions history is dead. The saddest part is not that a man is dead, it is that someone with such great talent is going to stop creating. All of his inventions will live on for decades to come. He was such a major influence and idol for who T and F is today and many other people around the world. Not much more needs to be said, himself and his work speaks for itself.

Tar and Feather Spring 2010 collection-Keep your eye on the Target

For those of you who missed the show way back in September, you can get a sneak peak at our collection. Just imagine Adam and the Ants in the background since there is no sound. Our inspiration for the collection was hunting. We used gingham, as you can see, focused on utilitarian pocketing, reinterpretations of the hunting vest. The real inspiration came from old glory hunting portraits of caught dead animals. We used pops of reflective tape and neon orange. The models(hunters) emerge from the smokey depths of the forest as seen in this video footage to get captured by our onstage photographer. Keep your eye on the target!

I've made the splurge and said goodbye to my lovely Viking overlock machine. We have been together for about ten years now, but she was getting tired and just couldn't keep the pace. Anyway, I've upgraded to a new Juki MO-644d. Time to increase the speed! After all, it is only 2 weeks until our show at Glasslands on the 21st, it is going to be a blast!

While New York has it's charm, sometimes you need to get away from it all. That's why I will be jet setting to Mexico this week. I can't wait to bare a bikini and wear a floppy hat. I am told to wear water proof/ comfortable clothing what's a girl to do? I own no rain slicker or rain boots( I refuse to buy a pair) That's what they invented the Margarita for after all, right? Dampness will go unnoticed as I'm drunk as can be.

My partner will be holding down the fort in NYC, where she will be diligently working on our fall collection. Not to give too much away, but there will be men's clothing and some gender bending. That's all I will say though..............Here's to sun and sea breeze!!!
